Furthermore, this would also mean that the TCG exclusives released in Lord Of The Tachyon Galaxy will also be legal for Worlds this year. Larger card pool = more possibilities of different styles of play.
However, today I will not be focusing only on the new TCG exclusives, but looking at the entire set.
As usual, the TCG version of Lord Of The Tachyon Galaxy will see several rarity changes as compared to the OCG version, so what went right, and what went wrong with these rarity changes?

From the original 80 cards of the OCG version of Lord Of The Tachyon Galaxy, 21 of them were given an increase in rarity in the TCG while only 11 saw a decrease in rarity from their OCG counterparts.
Firstly, lets start examining the cards that saw a decrease in rarity:
LTGY-EN012: Blizzard Falcon
Remarks: Blizzard Falcon's "once while this card is face-up on the field text" potentially ruins the interest of players to run this card in their deck, so decreasing its rarity was a good move. Otherwise, Blizzard Falcon's effect to burn 1500 damage seems to be pretty decent (Gachi-Gachi Gantetsu and other cards can assist it.)
LTGY-EN019: Battlin' Boxer Switchitter
Remarks: Its effect is pretty decent for the Battlin' Boxer deck, the only drawback is that you cannot special summon other types of monsters. However, this card is still pretty good overall. The rarity decrease from rare to common is not very significant and does not pose any huge problems to either OCG or TCG players.
LTGY-EN027: Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Leopard
Remarks: An instant searcher for a Fire Formation Spell/Trap upon summon, its effect is alright, but just like above, dropping from rare to common is not too significant a change for both OCG and TCG players.
LTGY-EN038,39,40,41: The Dragon Rulers
Remarks: Given the fact that Blaster and Tidal are going to be in a tin, and probably Redox and Tempest in Wave 2 as well, whichever rarity is assigned to these 4 cards would not be too siginificant, so placing them as rare is alright as well.
LTGY-EN047: CXyz Dark Fairy Cheer Girl
When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: Draw 1 card. If this card has "Fairy Cheer Girl" as an Xyz Material, it gains this effect.
● When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and remains on the field: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; inflict 400 damage to your opponent for each card in your hand.
Remarks: Summoning this card is quite simple using Rank-Up Magic, but this card may not see as much play as Utopia decks since Rank-Up Magic would come into play here, so dropping this card's rarity from super rare to common is a good move.
LTGY-EN049: Ice Beast Zerofyne
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the effects of all face-up cards your opponent currently controls, and if you do, this card gains 300 ATK for each face-up card currently on the field, except this card (these effects are applied until your next Standby Phase).
Remarks: A pretty good Xyz Monster for Harpie decks, and its effects will last for both yours and your opponent's turn, giving you strong negater and a big beatstick. Decreasing this card's rarity seems to be a wrong move as super rare is a rarity that this card deserves.
LTGY-EN051: Number 105: Battlin' Boxer Star Cestus
During either player's Battle Step, if a "Battlin' Boxer" monster you control battles an opponent's monster: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the effects of the opponent's monster until the end of the turn, that monster you control cannot be destroyed by that battle, also your opponent takes any battle damage you would have taken from that battle.
Remarks: This card's effect is moderately useful, but it onlu extends to Battlin' Boxer decks. Given the low popularity of Battlin' Boxer in the OCG, decreasing this card's rarity was probably a right choice to satisfy the TCG players.
LTGY-EN079: Mind Drain
Remarks: This card's effect is awesome, and in my opinion, this card does not deserve a rarity plunge. Instead, making it a super rare would be more appropriate.
The next section will focus on cards that saw an increase in rarity.
LTGY-EN021: Mecha Phantom Beast Megaraptor
Remarks: An instant ROTA for Mecha Phantom Beast, leaving it as a rare would be a waste of a good card, super rare suits the profile of this card better. A good move to increase its rarity.
LTGY-EN025: Mecha Phantom Beast Hamstrat
Remarks: Same as above, it has an awesome effect. However, giving it an ultra rare rarity seems to be too high. A super rare rarity would be more appropriate.
LTGY-EN028: Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Rhino
Remarks: A moderate effect, leaving it as common would have been just fine. It was an unnecessary rarity bump.
LTGY-EN029: Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Buffalo
Remarks: Same as above, a moderate effect card that does not deserve a rarity bump.
LTGY-EN031: Wheel Of Prophecy
Remarks: A card that will probably not see much play in Spellbook decks, but it does have a pretty decent effect, and placing it as rare instead of a common seems to be justifiable.
LTGY-EN032: Madolche Hootcake
Remarks: This card deserves a super rare rarity as its effects will allow Madolche decks to be more competitive. Its effect to special summon any Madolche monsters from your deck is enough justification for the rarity bump.
LTGY-EN035: Harpie Channeler
Remarks: Nobody can deny the fact that Harpie Channeler is an awesome card and has greatly boosted the competitiveness of Harpie decks. However, given the lack of success of Harpies in the OCG, perhaps it would have been much better to just leave this card as a rare.
LTGY-EN037: Windrose The Elemental Lord
Remarks: A Harpie's Feather Duster upon summon, it is unfortunately, not that easy to summon and have no other additional benefits after summoning it. Leaving this card as a super rare would be more appropriate as this card does not deserve the secret rare treatment.
LTGY-EN045" Gauntlet Launcher
You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; destroy it.
Remarks: In my opinion, I think that Gauntlet Launcher is an awesome Rank 6 monster given the scacity of good Rank 6 monsters now. Bumping it up to an ultra rare was a good move in my opinion.
LTGY-EN050: Battlin' Boxer Lead Yoke
If a "Battlin' Boxer" monster(s) you control would be destroyed by battle or by a card effect, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card instead of destroying 1 of those monsters. When an Xyz Material(s) is detached from this card: This card gains 800 ATK.
Remarks: This card has a decent Zenmaines effect with an additional effect to gain more ATK points. It was good to increase this card's rarity but I felt that it deserved more, perhaps a super rare treatment would be more appropriate.
LTGY-EN053: Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Special Summon 2 "Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens" (Machine-Type/WIND/Level 3/ATK 0/DEF 0). While you control a Token, this card cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects. Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 "Mecha Phantom Beast" monster, then target 1 card on the field; destroy that target. This card cannot attack during the turn you activate this effect.
Remarks: No need to explain for this card. This is perhaps the best card in this set, and is undoubtedly deserving of the secret rare treatment.
LTGY-EN054: Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Cardinal
You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card, then target 2 "Fire Fist"/"Fire Formation" cards in your Graveyard and/or face-up on your side of the field, and 2 cards in your opponent's Graveyard and/or face-up on their side of the field; shuffle those targets into the Deck. You can only use the effect of "Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Cardinal" once per turn.
Remarks: This card is one of the more under-rated card in the Fire Fist deck, and I would say that its effects is awesome, Pot of Avarice for yourself and Transmigration Prophecy/Compulsory Evacuation Device for your opponent. This card is worthy of a secret rare slot.
LTGY-EN061: Scramble!! Scramble!!
Remarks: A pretty moderate and situational effect in my opinion. There was no need to increase this card's rarity, leaving it as a rare would have been just fine.
LTGY-EN062: Fire Formation - Gyokkou
Remarks: A spell version fo Xing Zhen Hu for Fire Fist, this card deserves a rarity bump!
LTGY-EN063: Spellbook Of Judgment
Remarks: Although this card is a mood-killer for your opponent, this is no doubt that this card is ridiculously good and definitely deserving of the secret rare treatment.
LTGY-EN065: Hysteric Sign
Remarks: Same reasoning as Harpie Channeler. Although this card is an awesome addition to the Harpie team, the lack of success of Harpie decks in the OCG does not justify a rarity bump for this card. Leaving this card as a rare would be more appropriate.
LTGY-EN069: Pinpoint Guard
Remarks: I have always felt that this card is way too under-rated, it has an awesome negate attack effect and monster reborn effect all in one. However, I think that this card should have been a super rare or an ultra rare instead of a secret rare. It is not like cards such as Xyz Reborn and may not deserve to be a secret rare.
LTGY-EN071: Torrential Reborn
Remarks: A new toy for Mermails with a moderate effect, I feel that this card should have a lower rarity instead of a secret rare rarity.
LTGY-EN074: Do A Barrel Roll
Remarks: A card with a better effect than Scramble!! Scramble!! in my opinion, it should have swop rarity slots with it. This card should be deserving of the ultra rare slot.
LTGY-EN076: Madolche Nights
Remarks: A card with a moderate effect, super rare seems to be over-rating this card, leaving it as a common or bumping it to a rare would have been more appropriate.
Remarks: An awesome card for Geargias, this card is deserving of a super rare slot and could perhaps have an even higher rarity.
Thats all for today's post. Hope you enjoy it.
