Delights in Recent Sets

Hi guys! As people who know me should know, I really love playing "Jinzo Returner" decks, and I have played them ever since "Light Of Destruction OCG version" was released. So I have always been looking for new ways to strengthen the deck and make it more consistent. Luckily for me, Konami was nice enough to release some indirect support for "Jinzo Returner" decks in the last two sets, "Judgment Of The Light" and "Lord Of The Tachyon Galaxy".

Here are the cards!

Name: Pinpoint Guard
Set: Lord Of The Tachyon Galaxy
Set Number: LTGY-JP069
Rarity: Rare
Card Type: Trap (normal)
Effect: When an opponent's monster declares an attack: Target 1 Level 4 or lower monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it in face-up Defense Position. It cannot be destroyed by battle or by card effects this turn.

So whats so good about "Pinpoint Guard" in "Jinzo Returner" decks? As "Armageddon Knight" is a crucial piece of card in the deck, it will be a bonus if its effects can be used repeatedly, and that is where "Pinpoin Guard" comes into the picture.

When you have an "Armageddon Knight" in your graveyard, and your opponent declares an attack, use "Pinpoin Guard" to special summon "Armageddon Knight" back to your field. "Armageddon Knight's" effect can then trigger to send a "Jinzo" or a "Jinzo Returner" from your deck to the grave, with the latter being able to help you special summon a "Jinzo" from your graveyard as well (essentially making this card a +1)

If you do not have any "Armageddon Knight", but have a "Jinzo Returner" in your graveyard, it will work as well, simply special summon it back to the field, and when it is sent to the graveyard, you can special summon "Jinzo" from your graveyard again.

This card can work just as a pure defence mechanism as well. When your opponent declares a direct attack (especially when you are low on lifepoints), use "Pinpoint Guard" to special summon a monster back to the field in defense position. Since it can neither be destroyed by battle or card effects, it will help you to stay alive for a comeback next turn.

Overall, "Pinpoint Guard" can be an awesome card in "Jinzo Returner" decks and I would rate it a 8.5/10

Name: Exceed Reception (Xyz Reception in the TCG version)
Set: Judgment Of The Light
Set Number: JOTL-JP060
Rarity: Common
Card Type: Spell (normal)
Effect: Target 1 face-up monster you control; Special Summon 1 monster from your hand with the same Level as that target. Its ATK and DEF become 0, and its effects are negated.

"Exceed Reception" is also a good card to use in a "Jinzo Returner" deck. When you use the effect of "Jinzo Returner" to special summon a "Jinzo" from the graveyard, you can then use "Exceed Reception" to special summon another Level 6 monster from your hand. This way, you can Exceed Summon using the two level 6 monsters, while at the same time ensuring that the "Jinzo" special summoned by the effect of "Jinzo Returner" won't be wasted since it will be destroyed at the end phase of the turn.

Other than using this card to special summon level 6 monsters, you can also instant summon a "Jinzo" on your first turn by using this card. First, normal summon "Armageddon Knight" to send a copy of "Jinzo" from your deck to the graveyard. Secondly, activate "Exceed Reception" to special summon another level 4 monster from your hand. Overlay "Armageddon Knight" and the special summoned level 4 monster fro "Lavalval Chain". Use the effect of "Lavalval Chain" to send a copy of "Jizno Returner" from your deck to the graveyard. Then you would be able to special summon the "Jinzo"

Alternatively, when you normal summon "Armageddon Knight" with a copy of "Jinzo" already in your graveyard, you can use the effect of "Armageddon Knight" to send a copy of "Jinzo Returner" to the graveyard instead. Then, special summon "Jinzo" with the effect of "Jinzo Returner". Activate "Exceed Reception" to special summon another Level 4 DARK monster, overlay "Armageddon Knight" and the other level 4 dark monster to summon "Number 66: Master Key Beetle" and use its effect to protect "Jinzo". That way, "Jinzo won't be destroyed at the end phase by the effect of "Jinzo Returner".

"Exceed Reception" is a good card to use in "Jinzo Returner" decks althought it can be situational at times, I would rate it 6.5/10

Name: Number 66: Master Key Beetle
Set: Judgment Of The Light
Set Number: JOTL-JP054
Rarity: Rare
Card Type: Monster (Rank 4/ Dark/ Insect/ 2500/ 800/ Exceed/ Effect)
Effect: 2 Level 4 DARK monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 other card you control; while this card is face-up on the field, that target cannot be destroyed by card effects. If this card would be destroyed, you can send 1 of those targets to the Graveyard instead.

As previously mentioned, "Number 66: Master Key Beetle" can be used to protect "Jinzo" from the destruction effect of "Jinzo Returner" at the end phase, so that you can ensure the "Jinzo" that is special summoned will not be wasted.

Furthermore, "Number 66: Master Key Beetle" also has a decent attack point of 2500. If your opponent has a monster that has 2500 attack on the field (e.g "Stardust Dragon"), and you have "Number 66: Master Key Beetle" and a "Jinzo Returner" on the field, you can use the effect of "Number 66: Master Key Beetle" on your "Jinzo Returner", After that, attack your opponent's "Stardust Dragon" using "Number 66: Master Key Beetle".

Although both monsters should be destroyed in battle since they have the same attack points, you can send the "Jinzo Retuner" to the graveyard to prevent the destruction of "Number 66: Master Key Beetle" instead. Since the sending of "Jinzo Returner" to the graveyard will be the last thing to happen, you can then special summon a copy of "Jinzo" from your graveyard to hit him/her for another 2400 damage. Your opponent loses "Stardust Dragon", you lose "Jinzo Returner" but gain a "Jinzo" instead. In Main Phase 2 of the turn, you can then use "Exceed Reception" to special summon another level 6 to Exceed Summon for a Rank 6 to prevent wastage of the "Jinzo".

"Number 66: Master Key Beetle" will be an instrumental card in many successes with the "Jinzo Returner" decks in the future and I would rate it 8/10

I hope you like the card reviews today and just to add on, I have added a new video bar on the right side of this page, titled "Video Of The Week". For this week, we have "SimplyUnlucky's" box opening of a First Edition "Metal Raiders" Box, so do enjoy, and until next time, bye!
